You can make your monsters gather from Level 4 and above Ponds for  Level 1 Seaweed after new update! Level 1 Seaweed will turn into dead grass if you don't merge them.  Therefore, you must prepare many ponds if you don't want your seaweed becomes dead grass. After you get Seaweed, upgrade it to at least level 4. Then you can gather from Level 4 Seaweed for Level 1 Starfish.    Starfish can grow to Level 3 themselves, therefore don't merge them till they get Level 3.
